Class Listservs

Use your private class email groups to share personal news, initiate conversations about health care, or to read exchanges among classmates. Rest assured that only alumni with email addresses included in the listserv are able to send and receive emails.

  • How do I sign up?

    All alumni were added to their class’s listserv by default, using the preferred email address on file. If you are not receiving emails from your listserv, please contact the Alumni Engagement team at hmsalum@hms.harvard.edu so we can update your email address if necessary or opt you back into the group.

  • How do I email classmates?

    To “post” (send an email) to the listserv, type your class listserv address (hms_classYYYY@listserv.med.harvard.edu) in the “To:” field of your email. The YYYY indicates the 4-digit class year matching your preferred year. Typically this is the class you matriculated with. You will get an automated message asking to confirm you are the sender. Click the link in that email in order for your message to be distributed. Don’t forget that listserv messages are received by all of your classmates!

You will receive the Alumni Quarterly e-Newsletter (AQE) in January, March, July, and October. It includes news and features, event listings, and a section highlighting services and programs available to MD alumni. If you aren’t receiving the AQE, use the profile update tool in the Alumni. Harvard directory to verify and/or update your contact information. You will need your HarvardKey to access this tool. You can also send your updated contact information to hmsalum@hms.harvard.edu.

    How do I claim it?

    HarvardKey is Harvard University's unified online user credential, uniquely identifying you to Harvard IT applications and services to grant you access to the resources you use every day.

    How do I claim my HarvardKey?

    Visit key.harvard.edu and follow the step-by-step instructions. You will need your Harvard Alumni Association ID (HAA ID), class year(s), and preferred email address on file. You can also watch a step-by-step tutorial video »

    Where do I find my HAA ID and preferred email address?

    Your HAA ID number can be found in the footer of recent emails from the HMS Office of Alumni Affairs and Development and the Harvard Alumni Association, including the monthly Harvard Alumni Gazette or the HAA eVents. The preferred email address on file is the address that received the email.

    What if I need help claiming my HarvardKey?

    Harvard University's IT Support Desk staff is available to answer your questions seven days a week. Please call 617-495-7777 or email ithelp@harvard.edu. Below is the Support Desk schedule. 

    • Monday through Friday: 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
    • Saturday and Sunday: Noon – 4 p.m.
