Eleanor Gossard Shore, AB ’51, MD ’55, MPH ’70
2021 Service Award Winner
Shore, the former HMS dean for faculty affairs, is recognized for her remarkable contributions to the School. In retirement, she has, among other volunteer efforts, helped the Center for the History of Medicine at Countway Library collect, share, and celebrate the achievements of women in medicine; organized events to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the matriculation of women at HMS; worked to empower international institutions and faculty through her efforts with Real Colegio Complutense at Harvard and projects associated with Harvard Medical International; and, as part of the Shore Fellowship team, supported junior faculty who are pursuing academic work as they are assuming family or other responsibilities.
I really treasure this award. My life has been intertwined with Harvard starting in 1947. My affection for Harvard Medical School is enormous.
