Dr. Daniel Blumenthal, MD, MBA, is a practicing general cardiologist and the Chief Quality and Research Officer for Cardiovascular Associates of America (CVAUSA). CVAUSA is a comprehensive cardiology practice management organization dedicated to supporting entrepreneurial community cardiologists to revolutionize cardiovascular care and succeed under value-based care (VBC). CVAUSA works with 27 partner cardiovascular groups which employ 600+ cardiovascular specialists at 150+ locations in eight states, and collectively serve more than 1,000,000 unique patients annually.
Dr. Blumenthal previously founded and served as Chief Executive Officer of Novocardia, a cardiology-focused management services organization and value-based care enabler of cardiology practices, which merged with CVAUSA in April, 2023. The Novocardia Division of CVAUSA is responsible for developing, testing, and scaling innovative care models and new value-based and risk-based contracting models that improve care quality and efficiency while lowering costs. Before founding Novocardia, Dr. Blumenthal held the roles of Associate Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director at Devoted Health, a Medicare Advantage health plan.
Dr. Blumenthal is also a practicing, board-certified, non-invasive cardiologist at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston and a part-time lecturer at Harvard Medical School. He received his MD and MBA degrees from Harvard Medical School and Harvard Business School and trained in internal medicine and cardiology at the MGH.
Dr. Blumenthal is a past recipient of the American Heart Association’s Laennec Young Clinician Award. His previous academic work has focused on innovations in payment model design, quality improvement in cardiology, and leadership development. Dr. Blumenthal has published over 60 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals. He lives in Wellesley, Massachusetts with his wife, Kim, an Allergist and Epidemiologist, and their three sons.
