Your involvement strengthens our community.

There are many ways for you to share your knowledge and expertise with the School.

The Council serves in an advisory role to Harvard Medical School leaders by listening and responding to current issues. Council members are each elected by acclamation to a three-year term. The Council also appoints, in consultation with the dean, the chair of alumni relations and the chair of alumni giving.

Each spring, we invite alumni age 65 or older to share their insights with students throughout the upcoming academic year. This program is designed to help our first-year students navigate the unique aspects of geriatrics and palliative medicine.

Class agents play a vital role in keeping their classmates connected with the School. They are responsible for leading the fundraising efforts of their class each year. Class agents help shape the learning experience for students by raising critical funds for everything from scholarships and financial aid to innovative research programs and world-class faculty.

The goal of Reunion is to reconnect alumni with the School and with each other. The Class Reunion Committee members help set the tone to ensure their Reunion reflects the unique character of their class. Committees work with HMS staff to help plan Reunion activities, encourage participation in Reunion Reports, and raise a Reunion class gift.

MD Connect Banner

MD Connect is a platform that connects alumni with students or other alumni interested in establishing advising and mentoring relationships. Its goal is to provide guidance from experienced physicians, researchers, and industry professionals to help students and alumni navigate their medical education and careers. MD alumni complete their profiles by providing information about their specialty, employment details, location, and the topics they are comfortable advising on. Current MD students or alumni seeking advice can then search for alumni based on experience, topics, or goals to find the right connections.

Within MD Connect, you can also learn about other advising and mentoring opportunities, including the following:

  • MD Alumni Adviser Program
For personalized advising beyond what MD Connect offers, contact Dea Angiolillo, MD ’79.
  • MD Mentorship and Recruitment
If you would like to collaborate with the School’s Office of Recruitment and Multicultural Affairs (ORMA) to recruit prospective students and mentor current students and recent graduates—particularly those underrepresented in medicine—please complete this sign-up form.
