A planned gift, in the form of a bequest, led to the establishment of Harvard Medical School over 225 years ago. Since that time, similar gifts have transformed and provided vital support for scholarship and medical education, fundamental research, and mission support. Planned gifts are established at present, but benefit your chosen area in the future. You can make a legacy gift in the following ways:
- Life Income Gifts such as a charitable gift annuity or a charitable remainder trust provide you (and another if you wish) an income for life and a charitable income tax deduction.
- Bequests can be made through a will or trust and can support an area of importance to you.
- Retirement Plan Assets can be designated for Harvard Medical School by a simple change of beneficiary form. The gift passes tax-free to make a difference at HMS.
- The Ezekiel Hersey Council recognizes alumni, alumnae, and friends of Harvard Medical School who have created a life income gift or included HMS in their estate plans to continue the tradition of excellence. To view a list of EHC members, click here.
